During the wedding day, the bride is asked to serve elder families tea. It is quite necessary as they never met each other until that day. And some specific presents are required to ensure that both families take this marriage seriously.
In this case, this idiom “三茶六禮” used to indicate that the wedding is officially held. The couple got legal status.
